Why should I study Spanish in Malaga?
All Pages

Studying Spanish in Spain could be one of your most important career moves and is the best way to learn Spanish as a second or third language.

I am the Director of Marketing of Malaca Instituto in Spain and I would like to explain to you why I think that the study of Spanish is possibly crucial to your career plans.

Why should students study Spanish?

Over 400 million people around the world speak Spanish as a first language, making it the 2nd most used business language in the world. These are frequently quoted figures but what does this mean to you in relation to your career aspirations.

As a typical example, I personally travel extensively to promote our Spanish language courses and frequently end up speaking Spanish to students who are studying Spanish. As I am British, this implies that a Brit is talking to (say) Russians or Norwegians or Dutch, Germans or Chinese in Spanish: ie. non-native speakers of Spanish using Spanish to communicate.

I can assure you that most of our 16-25 years-aged students (coming predominantly from Europe but also from the US, Asia and Brazil) already speak 2 or 3 languages fluently and are learning Spanish as a 3rd or 4th language. Students with several more languages are by no means uncommon. These are the very people that you will be competing with directly on the international job market! If you were an international recruitment director who would you choose: the student with a quality degree and speaking 3 or 4 languages or the graduate speaking only English – a “no-brainer”!

Where should I study Spanish?

If you want to study Spanish quickly and efficiently the best place to do so is in a country where the language is spoken. This could clearly be in Spain or in Latin America. If you search in Google for Schools of Spanish around the world you will be inundated with information, much from very dubious sources (but which is it), making it very difficult to make a decision.

In Spain and in Europe in general there are some highly developed inspection schemes which offer independent guarantees of the status and quality of the schools inspected. Malaca Instituto for example can boast the following accreditations or inspection memberships:

· EAQUALS
· Instituto Cervantes
· IALC
· CEELE

You can easily check these out on the Web and they are your guarantees of the quality of Spanish courses and services offered by Malaca Instituto. You will also see that very few schools in Spain have such a prestigious list of guarantees.

We have Spanish courses at all levels. It doesn’t matter if you are a complete beginner or a highly advanced student – you will find the level and course suitable for you.
