This course is designed to help you become a more focused and effective reader by integrating the principles of mindfulness and evidenced-based reading strategies. Two concepts (which may seem opposed) come together to help readers focus on the present moment, and also become aware of their own thinking process. Mindfulness is the state of being actively focused on the present moment, and metacognition is the concept of thinking about your thinking.You will learn reading strategies, and techniques to help you become more mindful in the context of the three stages of reading; before, during, and after. You will also learn five concepts that contribute to mindful reading, and see how they are woven in throughout these stages.
